Invitation to participate

Programs sponsored by the US Department of Energy (DOE) under the auspices of International Nuclear Safety Program (INSP) are being conducted in the Former Soviet Union (FSU) and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) to enhance the analytical and computational capabilities in support of the safe operation of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) operating Soviet-designed reactors, and to conduct plant specific safety evaluations for selected units. The improvement of the analytical capabilities and the plant specific assessments include both deterministic neutronics and thermohydraulics analysis and probabilistic risk assessments. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the DOE-funded programs, it is desirable to provide the means for the analysts involved in different projects to share their experiences and disseminate the results and information gained in their respective projects.

History of Forums

The Sixth International Information Exchange Forum on Safety Analysis for Nuclear Power Plants of the VVER and RBMK Types (Forum-6) is scheduled to be held 8 - 12 April 2002 in Kiev, Ukraine, to facilitate information exchange on Analytical Methods and Computational Tools for NPP Safety Assessment. It replaces the earlier announced Forum-2001 which has been canceled.
Organizations active in the field of safety analysis of nuclear reactors of the VVER and RBMK types are welcome to participate.
Among the benefits that are being derived from these Forums are improved cooperation between organizations and persons working in the same or related areas as well as improved prioritization of programs and avoidance or minimization of overlap in tasks.
