At Pacific Northwest, science and technology are delivered breakthrough to meet key national needs. Capabilities are also applied to meet selected environmental, energy, ealth and national security objectives, strengthen the economy, and support the education of future scientists and engineers.
Pacific Northwest is managed by DOE's Office of Science, but work is performed for many DOE offices as well as other government agencies.
Battelle has operated Pacific Northwest for DOE and its predecessors since 1965. A unique feature of Battelle's contract with DOE allows staff of PNNL to work for private industry.
